Heyer is a dedicated environmental advocate from the Solomon Islands, who brings a wealth of experience and passion to Positive Change for Marine Life. With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific (USP) and a master’s degree in Disaster Management from the University of Auckland, Heyer is well-equipped to tackle environmental challenges head-on.
His background in economic development and program management, gained from previous roles at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and the Australian High Commission in Honiara, provides a solid foundation for their work in promoting sustainability and community resilience.
Having witnessed the harmful impact of industries like logging on their homeland’s natural resources, Heyer is deeply committed to safeguarding the environment. Through their expertise in leveraging local social and cultural practices and ecological knowledge, Heyer aims to empower communities to adapt to climate change and mitigate disasters effectively.
As the newest member of the team, Heyer’s dedication to driving conservation outcomes will undoubtedly drive positive change in marine conservation efforts both locally and globally. Welcome Heyer!
