OUR IMPACT
*Note: unlike many organisations, we do not extrapolate our marine debris collection data. Our data reflects every individual piece of debris that our team has collected.
'Paving the path to change through understanding, education and respect'
The ocean is our lifeblood. In the blink of an eye in earth terms we have almost destroyed it. Over fishing, pollution, anthropogenic warming, irresponsible industry and invasive species are all taking their toll, yet while there is ingenuity, there is hope and positivity has a remarkable knack for creating change...
Our work focuses on creating and implementing conservation strategies in regions where pollution, over-fishing, poor decision making and/or a lack of infrastructure are taking their toll on marine ecosystems. We work hands on with local communities to provide long-term opportunities which benefit the ocean, as well as the communities who rely upon it for survival.
MARINE CONSERVATION MASTERPLAN - PHASE II
Working alongside some of the poorest fishing communities, our team in India aims to reverse the enormous impacts that overfishing, pollution and marine debris are having on local marine life and the people who rely on the ocean for survival. Our Marine Conservation Centre launched in May, 2018 and our programs now directly engage over 200 families in the region!

UPDATES
Check out the latest video from the incredible Dane Scott Creative - Positive Change for Marine Life and Green Music Australia teamed up with artists from Splendour in the Grass 2018 for a local beach survey to raise awareness to the growing threat of marine debris and plastic pollution.
MAKING WAVES - CREATING OCEAN-FRIENDLY BUSINESSES
Our Leave No Trace initiative is driving a shift away harmful single-use plastic items and packaging! We're working to help tackle single-use and move toward a waste-free future. Will your business take up the challenge?
Our Byron team with the team at Happy Travels, who recently transitioned towards fair-trade, reusable cloth bags as part of our Leave No Trace campaign. The bags are hand cut, stitched and printed by marginalised women who we work with in our Global Program location in southern India.

Extreme levels of plastic pollution, a severe lack of waste management systems, and fisheries in a state of collapse are causing a cascading impact on marine ecosystems and communities in Vizhinjam and Kovalam.
