Redlands Kayak Tours along with Positive Change for Marine Life (PCML) will spend Clean Up Australia Day collecting rubbish from the upper reaches of Tingalpa Creek.
The morning will also mark the launch of Positive Change for Marine Life's River Warriors project on Tingalpa Creek! River Warriors is PCFML's kayak-based survey initiative - identifying sources of waterway debris through collecting and collating found items in order to address them at their source. All rubbish will be weighed and sorted as part of the program and PCFML will host a small talk on the impacts of waterway debris and why they started this vital project, whilst Redlands Kayaks will talk about their work, tours and the current threats to waterways across the Redlands.
We have limited kayaks available, however you can BYO Kayak or SUP. If getting on the water doesn’t suit you, there will be plenty of rubbish to collect by walking along the bank and into the Capalaba Regional Park.
River Warriors is proudly supported by the Redland City Council Community Grants Program and council will be assisting us on the day by providing collection services for what we collect!
