After collecting almost 23,000 pieces of marine debris from Tallebudgera Creek during our River Warriors project (scoring the creek an F+ on our Marine Debris Report Card), we are excited to be in the midst of Phase II of the project, which is engaging community members, businesses, visitors and organisations to address this issue at its source.
This event marks the launch of our new 'River Champions' initiative, engaging local community members to take action on marine pollution in the Talle Creek through connecting with each other, engaging businesses in sponsoring sections of the creek to keep it marine debris free, assisting us with educational signage, programs and government engagement.
Come along and find out more about our River Warriors project, what we found, what we are doing about it and how you can get involved. It doesn't matter whether you have 30 minutes a month or 5 hours per week, everyone can get involved in moving Talle Creek to an A+ rating in terms of marine debris. Come along and find out how.
There'll also be some delicious free food! Looking forward to seeing you there!
This initiative is proudly supported by the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action Grants program.
