Despite being named Australia's Best Swimming Spot in 2019, our River Warriors team found an astounding 24,000 pieces of marine debris in Tallebudgera Creek across just 6 full-length surveys of the waterway in 2018!
As part of our new River Champions initiative, we are seeking passionate volunteers to participate in a community outreach doorknock on the 20th of August.
We will be engaging with local residents who live alongside the creek across Burleigh Heads, West Burleigh, Palm Beach and Elanora. Volunteers will be required to chat with local residents about our findings and the steps we are taking to address the issue along the extent of the Tallebudgera Creek. We'll be inviting them to join us at a free info session and presentation for residents later in the month, which we hope will lead to a community-driven group who will work together to address the issue and keep the waterway pollution free!
If you're passionate about the state of our marine environment and want to empower others to create a better future, please register to become a volunteer!
Once registered, you'll be sent all the info for the day. Our team will run a short info session prior to the event, pair you up and give you all the materials needed to make the day a big success!
We hope to see you there and look forward to working with you to keep our seas and waterways plastic and pollution free!
