NEW EVENT DATE
Due to the bad weather forecast for Sunday the event won’t be going ahead. The new date is Sunday 8th March - tickets already purchased for tomorrow will be transferred.
Join us for survey 4 of our #RiverWarriors Brunswick River initiative, where we've collected >5,000 pieces of debris from our first 3 surveys so far!
All of our survey data will go towards a Marine Debris Report Card and State of Marine Debris Report, highlighting pollution hotspots and sources of debris in an effort to combat them. Phase II and Phase III of the project will then tackle the issue at its source, utilising a variety of community outreach and physical mitigation methods. All of our data is also uploaded into the Australian Marine Debris Initiative database, which maps debris across the country.
We will meet at 11am at Heritage Park Boat Ramp in Mullumbimby and paddle downstream to Council's Sewage Treatment Works facility on the northern side of the river in Mullumbimby. A courtesy bus will collect paddlers from there and take everyone back to their cars at Heritage Park.
There are 5 double and 2 single kayaks available for a donation of just $20 per kayak, or BYO non-motorised watercraft.
You can register to come with your own watercraft or sign up for a kayak through Eventbrite here:
PLEASE NOTE: PCFML staff will look after your kayaks while you take the bus back to your cars. You will then have to return to collect them.
Thanks to our fantastic local partners Patagonia, Byron Bay Brewery, Southern Cross Credit Union, Happy Travels and Byron Bay Eco Cruises & Kayaks!
Hope to see you there!
