Since 2012 we've been running scientific beach surveys, education programs and community awareness projects across Australia and abroad. We realise that change will only occur when communities unite and raise awareness from within and that's why this year we've decided to challenge communities across the planet to take action and address the ongoing issue of marine debris!
Our Marine Debris Challenge challenges communities and individuals across Australia and overseas to host ongoing clean ups, education programs, picnics, forums, art events, and whatever other change-making activities that they come up with to make a difference for the ocean and raise awareness on the impacts of marine debris and how we can collectively mitigate them.
PCFML will provide the gear, marketing and support needed to make each challenge a success as well as setting-up Crowdfunding pages for each team to raise $500 to cover their survey materials, advertising and marketing expenses. Additional funds raised will go straight back into the community to continue the Marine Debris Challenge's work well into the future in order to ensure initiatives to mitigate the impacts of trash, educate locals and tourists alike and eradicate single-use items from their communities!
APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED FOR THE 2016 CHALLENGE.
This campaign will commence on March 1st 2016 and conclude on April 22nd with Earth Day celebration events in host towns and cities who've taken the challenge! (THE CONCLUSION DATE HAS NOW BEEN EXTENDED AS OUR TEAMS HAVE ADDED NEW EVENTS!)
