Our team in India has been researching, developing and introducing sustainable single-use products and packaging to replace the proliferation of single-use plastics at local vendors and restaurants across Kovalam and Vizhinjam. Coupled with education and outreach programs, we believe that together we can turn the tide on marine plastic pollution in the region!
The team in India have been working on an exciting new project for the last few months. Collaborating with our local partner SISP’s social enterprises workshop (employing women and youth from below the poverty line), we have been creating alternatives to plastic products for our new major partner Happy Travels! Join us in celebrating the first-step in our new sustainable products journey through our biggest corporate partnership yet - the Happy Planet initiative!
Over the past three months our team in India has been forming alliances with local organisations, government agencies and community groups, as well as undertaking beach surveys and brand audits to determine the best way to tackle the myriad of pollution and waste management issues currently facing the marine environment here.
Our team in India is trying to be as sustainable as possible in all of their practices. This includes not using any chemically based soaps, single-use platics or other chemical products in our office or during our on-ground work. Tables need staining? Welcome coffee grinds, beetroot and turmeric - natural staining at its best!
