Celebrating World Clean Up Day!

On Saturday 15th September, Positive Change for Marine Life and NE Waste came together to help celebrate World Clean Up Day! The event was a huge success and once again northern NSW was turning it up for us with beautiful sunshine and blue clear skies.

The event took place in Brunswick Heads’ Banner Park at 10am. We had locals stalls set up, including ocean-inspired jewellery from Mermaid Collective, musicians, guest speakers, and raffles kindly donated by local organisations, including Harvest. We also had fun games for the kiddies to teach them about resource use and the impacts of single-use plastic items, as well as our park clean up, where everyone came together to lend a hand.

We had many entries vying to win the amazing raffle prizes! Thank you to all of our generous donors who contributed to the prize pack. Photograph by Rodrigo.

We filled over a dozen bags and raised community awareness about the critical issues currently facing our oceans, as well as how we can all take action in our everyday lives to make a difference.

It’s events like these that keep our team inspired to continue the work that they do. It was empowering to see the community come together to help give back to our environment, and we had a lot of people asking how they can get more involved. What a rewarding day!

An enormous thankyou to our raffle prize donors - Pura Vida; Food Culture Ocean Shores; Valley of Craftsmen; Go Sea Kayak; Harvest Newrybar; Sunshine Trader; Brooke Clunie; Violettas Shoes; Brunswick Heads Bicycles; Bernadi’s; Hotel Brunswick; Yami’s; Saffron Home Essentials; Milk Bar Brunswick Heads; and the Bruns Bakery.
