This past Sunday, we conducted the 2nd survey of our River Warriors Brunswick River initiative, proudly sponsored by our friends at Patagonia, the Byron Bay Brewery and Southern Cross Credit Union. We want to thank all of our supporters and volunteers for making it such an epic day!
After covering just an 800m stretch of the waterway, we collected an astounding 1,550 pieces of debris, weighing in at 127kg! The largest categories collected were glass and plastic, with 884 items made out of glass and 411 plastic. Under the plastic category, we collected 205 plastic remnants, 49 lightweight plastic bags, and 79 plastic drink bottles 😔
A huge thanks to the incredibly engaged 22 participants who assisted us on the day (some of whom travelled down from the Gold Coast and Lismore), as well as to Alain and Alistair from the Brewery for the great beers post-clean and to James from SCCU for coming down from the Tweed to lend a hand!
