AUSTRALIAN INTERN (PROGRAMS OFFICER)

Growing up in The Netherlands, Britte did not see much nature in her everyday life when she was younger. She would take every opportunity with family, with friends, and by herself, to explore all of Europe and beyond. She went on numerous hiking trips, biking trips and experienced various ocean activities.

During the time she has spent in nature, Britte developed a major interest in climate change, and she followed her passion to study International Development Management. She is majoring in Disaster Risk Management and she has gained great knowledge in the humanitarian and the development sector during her studies.

Britte has previous internship experience with a local NGO in the highlands of Bolivia. There, she focused on diverse topics such as pollution, climate change adaptation, wetland monitoring and remote sensing. During her time in Bolivia, Britte gained more interest in nature conservation as well as in raising awareness and nudging behavioural change.

Even though she had always been fascinated by Australia, Britte only visited the beautiful country for the first time in 2014. During a family vacation she fell in love with the endless natural beauty that Australia has to offer. Britte was lucky enough to return and to work disaster recovery in Queensland for several months in 2017.

In February 2020, she returned once again and started her internship at Positive Change For Marine Life. She is really excited to be on board, to share her positive energy, her knowledge, and especially to learn from the dynamic team!
